STREET TASK: Needs Assessment and Product

In a small group, brainstorm ideas for a new product or invention. After deciding on a product, create a needs assessment survey and poll 10 people on the street. Based on reactions to your product idea, revise accordingly. Be prepared to present your product to the class in the form of a commercial, which you will make using moviemaker or present live to the class. Students will critique your effort, concept clarity, marketing techniques and the detail of your presentation so keep that in mind while you work.

WRITING: Summary

Choose a front page article from the San Diego Tribune. Read it in full and summarize the content. Provide your summary on the blog.

STREET TASK: Plan a vacation!

Head to a nearby travel agency and plan the trip of your life! Speak with a travel agent at one of San Diego's local travel companies and return with an itinerary for the ultimate vacation. You could have a week long plan for what you will do on your dream vacation. You don't have to write it out but you do have to tell the class what you are doing and how you plan to get ready for your trip and all of the activities you have planned. Bring in some sort of realia, a brochure or post card, that you picked up at the travel agency and be prepared to show it to the class and answer how this information will help you plan your trip.

Speaking presentations are 10 minutes each. You can work alone or with a partner!
